HERBAL AKTIV PEEL® The Treatment

HERBAL AKTIV PEEL® uses herbs to lift the dead skin and resurface the skin. The treatment takes about 45 minutes to complete and leaves no redness or irritation at all. Q: What is Herbal Aktiv Peel?

Herbal Aktiv Peel is a botanical skin resurfacing treatment based on a compound of dehydrated crushed herbs. The treatment was first developed in Germany 50 years ago. It does not contain any synthetic acids or abrasives.

Q: How does this work on pigmentation and wrinkles etc?

Herbal Aktiv Peel improves the appearance of pigmentation and of wrinkles by peeling the top layers of the skin. Skin cells containing pigmented melanin are sloughed off in the process, wrinkles are clearly less visible.

Q: Is it superficial?

The process of herbal peeling takes place over five days. This makes the Herbal Aktiv Peel a so-called epidermal peel. The herbs that have been massaged into the skin deliver their active ingredients in a slow-release fashion, over a period of four days.

Q: How long do the results last?

Aging of the skin is due to intrinsic as well as extrinisic factors. Hereditary factors, our age, hormones etc. are intrinsic factors. Extrinsic factors such as exposure to UV rays, our lifestyle and the way we care for our skin can be influenced by us. The appearance of signs of aging can be delayed by Herbal Aktiv Peels, repeated once yearly. Once we reach our fifties it is recommended to increase the number of peels to two per year.

Q: How often can it be done?

The Herbal Aktiv Peel can be done once per month, as often as is required. It fits in with the natural monthly cycle of skin renewal. The appearance of skin concerns such as severe sun damage, wrinkling, pigmentation, scarring or atrophy can be improved with a series of three to five treatments, in monthly intervals. Once the aim of these treatments has been achieved it is possible to switch to yearly or bi-yearly preventive treatments.

Q: Can anyone have it done?

Herbal Aktiv Peel can be performed on just about any skin type or colour. The treating therapist is trained to identify contra-indications which include pregnancy, heart pace makers, potential allergies etc. Clients who are under medical supervision for a skin condition will not be able to have a Herbal Aktiv Peel until their issues are resolved.

Q: Are there any risks?

Herbal Aktiv Peel is a very safe treatment modality. As the protective barrier of the skin is never broken during the process there is little danger of infection or similar complication. The treating therapist will identify any potential areas of risk.

Q: What is to be expected for results after 1 treatment, and how many is necessary for different concerns?

Following a Herbal Aktiv Peel the skin is improved in appearance, finer in texture and brighter in colour. Sun damage, wrinkles and scarring are visibly improved. The treating therapist keeps photographic records to illustrate any changes before and after treatment. Depending on the concerns the therapist may recommend a series of up to five treatments. Improvement in the appearance of damage that has accumulated over 50 years will clearly take more than one treatment.
